Together Gibraltar’s Executive, Management Board and Leadership Selection
Voting has now begun for the executive. If you are a signed up member as of the 3rd November then you are eligible to vote. Voting rules as well as candidate bios and pitches can be found in the voting page. Voting closes on Wednesday 13th November at 12:00.
The new executive
The Together Gibraltar internal structure will be selected democratically by the membership, in a process that will be totally transparent and in adherence with the party charter.
TG EXECUTIVE - 15 MEMBERS
Executive members will be directly involved in the decision making process, take part in campaigns, will be responsible for forming working groups, help in the ongoing mission of growing the membership, interact with constituents, groups and NGOs in the appropriate manner, and will be committed to the political direction established by the party Leader.
Executive member application is open to all current members (up until the 3rd of November 2019) of Together Gibraltar. Fill in the form below to nominate yourself and notify your interest in being elected to form part of the executive, to be elected by the membership via an online vote. All applications / nominations must be seconded by another existing member of Together Gibraltar.
The deadline for applications is 23:59 on Thursday 7th November. Voting on the new executive members will begin on Friday 8th November and will close at 12:00 on Wednesday 13th November.
The new executive shall be announced in an EGM at HQ on the evening of Wednesday 13th November (time to be confirmed).
MANAGEMENT BOARD
Once the executive has been selected and in the course of the upcoming EGM, a management board will be proposed and seconded by the new executive and ratified by the membership (via show of hands vote), as per the party charter:
SECTION 5. Management Board Members of party's Management Board will be proposed and seconded by members of the Executive, and will be voted for by the Membership every two years by members at an AGM or EGM, or upon the resignation of a post holder.
Chair Responsibilities include the organisation and chairing of AGMs and EGMs, management of Party's Code of Conduct and the disciplinary process. In addition, the Party Chair will coordinate and delegate responsibilities to the rest of the Management Board and the Executive.
Secretary Responsibilities include preparation of minutes, filing, membership list, communications to members, booking of premises for AGMs and EGMs, and party stationery.
Treasurer Responsibilities include keeping the party books, filing party accounts, audits, management of the party's bank affairs and petty cash.
PARTY LEADER
The TG party Leadership is also open to all current members (up until the 3rd of November 2019) of Together Gibraltar. The candidate will be proposed and seconded by the new executive as soon as the selection process closes, and announced on the night of the EGM. In the case of a single leadership candidacy, the leader will be ratified by the membership via show of hands on the night.
In the case that more than one candidacy is put forward, a Leadership election will be held at another EGM scheduled for Friday the15th of November in the party’s Main Street premises. Members will receive a ballot on arrival with a choice between all nominated leaders, and those ballots will be deposited and counted on the night.
SECTION 7. Leadership Elections Leadership Elections will take place automatically every two years at an Annual General Meeting, or before that at an EGM if a Vote of No Confidence is successfully obtained by 40% of the party's Executive, or if the Leader resigns. A Party Leader will be selected in the following manner:
i. The Process will be overseen by the Party Chair, with the support and assistance of the Secretary
ii. ii. Candidates must be proposed and seconded by Executive members at an Executive meeting held not less than 48 hours before the AGM / EGM.
This new structure will set the course for the party in preparation for the next electoral process. The TG approach will always be one of democracy and collaboration, but some degree of separation of power will be encouraged. Infrastructural and internal coordination issues will be handled largely by the TG executive and management board, while the political direction will be set by the party leader.
