TOGETHER GIBRALTAR APPEALS TO GOVERNMENT TO BRING BATHING SEASON FORWARD THIS YEAR IN ORDER TO HAVE LIFEGUARDS AND FIRST AID RESOURCE

Together Gibraltar urges Government to bring forward the date for the commencement of the Bathing Season given the extraordinary circumstances. The loosening of the lockdown restrictions has given rise to an increase in the number of people attending our beaches and it would be prudent to ensure that lifeguards are present for public safety purposes.

TOGETHER GIBRALTAR CONTEMPLATES 'UNLOCK THE ROCK' DOCUMENT

Together Gibraltar commends the Government of Gibraltar on its extensive “Unlock the Rock” document, laying out the transition into a new normality in which Gibraltarians will have to take a significant part of the responsibility in managing life with the virus. We would like to strongly emphasise this reality: This is not a plan POST-VIRUS. This is what we must do to minimise risks while living WITH THE VIRUS.

CONCERNS ABOUT “UNLOCKING THE ROCK”

ogether Gibraltar understands the need to move towards a de-escalation of the lockdown, and supports the Government’s plan to restart the economy within parameters defined by public health objectives. However, we believe the health and safety of the people of Gibraltar should remain the priority, and that activity should not be resumed without adequate preparation for a new wave of Covid-19 cases. With an adequately implemented strategy, the aim of neutralising the virus completely is within our reach, and we should pursue this goal vigorously.

The Road To Parliament

Equality is at the core of the TG political mission, and our leader, Marlene Hassan Nahon, continues to fight for better conditions for our women from our small corner of Parliament. However, it is important that women in the community understand that the only way to address structural gender inequalities, both present and future, is to enhance the participation of women in politics. Currently, there are only two women in Parliament and fifteen men.
